Modern Narrow Gallery Kitchen in York
This modern kitchen in York is home to Mr & Mrs Anderson, of Stamford Bridge, who commissioned Twenty 5 Design to transform their outdated, gloomy, narrow gallery kitchen with a bespoke design, shortly after they moved into their new family home with their two young daughters.
With its unusual shape, brown walls and dark worktops, the room was lacking light, space and personality. Mr & Mrs Anderson's only request was that their new kitchen should be light, bright and airy, but beyond this, they were excited to be led by our designer when it came to colour palettes and the style and features of their new kitchen.
The first task was to consider a flexible layout for the family space, tackling the existing galley style kitchen and the three separate breakfast bars which made the kitchen feel reminiscent of a canteen! The Twenty 5 Design team recommended breaking up the colours to break up these lines and making a big impact with a feature island.
The Milbourne painted range fit the bill perfectly, being both durable and available in a wide range of colours.
White quartz worktops add to the visual appeal, whilst also being very practical and the feature oak piece on the island adds a warm contrast.
The blend of parchment white and suede cabinetry down the galley is easy on the eye, with the cranberry-painted island injecting a lively splash of colour.
The lower level area of the island is designed for Mr & Mrs Anderson's little girls to enjoy baking. The dining table is ideally situated in the bay window and creates a lovely focal point in the room.
