Between hosting barbecues and garden parties, there’s never a better time than summer to inject a little life into your kitchen.

1. Bright Colours

Summer is the perfect time to integrate bright colours into your kitchen. Yellow, orange and peach will liven up the room instantly, even in small doses- try displaying cutlery and other kitchen utensils in painted plant pots, for a cheerful and rustic feel.

2. Sunflowers

While flowers are always a staple, leave the red roses for the darker months, and replace them with something a little more vibrant. Sunflowers bloom mid-summer, making them the perfect option for any summer décor, and their beautiful colour will remind you of the summer sun, even when the British weather is a little less forgiving.

3. Mirrors

If your kitchen ever feels a little dull or dark, hanging a large wall mirror opposite the window will reflect more sunlight into the room. This extra boost of light will make you feel happier and more summery immediately.

4. Declutter

Organising your utensils and decluttering your kitchen will give the space a lighter, much more airy, breezy feel, which will prevent you from feeling cramped, and give the impression of having a more open space.

5. Paper Lantern Vases

If you’re looking for a creative, and not-so-permanent, way to display the flowers in your kitchen, arrange them in a paper lantern. It holds the same level of charm as your usual vase, but without the formality.

Jars of lights

6. Jars of Lights

Filling a large jar with fairy lights or tea lights and placing it on your kitchen table is an elegant way to style your kitchen using lighting, and is reminiscent of the stars on a summer night.

7. Summery Artwork

Artwork depicting beaches or other landscapes is a great way to inject a piece of summer into your kitchen without having to change too much. Hanging up one large piece can instantly transform the room into your own summer escape.

8. Paint Wooden Chairs White

For a beachside cottage vibe, take your wooden kitchen chairs and paint them white. The change of colour will make the furniture feel new and refreshed while the colour white is crisp and clean, and makes the room seem brighter.

Copper pot

9. Copper and Gold

Switching out the silver in your kitchen (whether in the form of pots and pans or more decorative pieces) for gold and copper tones adds a warmth to the room that echoes the warm weather and adds a drop of sunlight into your interior – and while copper and gold are very much on trend this summer, these colours are a timeless classic that will carry you through seasons to come.

10. Insect Prints

Spring saw bird and butterfly prints, but summer welcomes insects of all varieties. Covering the seats of your kitchen chairs with fabric with a dragonfly or bee print is an easy and stylish way to make a statement with these seasonal insect patterns.

Remember that decorating your kitchen for the season shouldn’t be a chore - if we’ve inspired you to add some summery accents to your kitchen, we’d love to hear from you on either Facebook or Twitter!
